On Your Bike is 500 plus for 2019
What a great day and loads of big thank yous to all involved in On Your Bike 2019.
We estimate 550 riders and everyone was a great help with registering and flowing away in our classic rolling start at 8.45am.
Whoever wishes to claim for organising the weather -- thank you very much!
We had some extraordinary riders including Graham who was on his 20th On Your Bike (30 miles) and confessed to having just reached 80 years. Then because he had a recent knee operation, another brought his modern cycle along for his 30th ride instead of his usual 1930's vintage.
More news and thank yous to follow.
Sponsorship can bring in those vital extra pounds
We look forward to receiving sponsorship which adds the extra cash for us to be helping ellenor hospise services and other charities. We can also claim Gift Aid f if youi have ticked that important box. A slip to pay in at any bank was included in the entry pack. You can donate using PayPal but we must have the original sponsorship form for HMRC.
Organised for 33
years by The Rotary Club of Gravesend
Said to be the best organised ride in the South East!
Our 15, 30 and 45 mile routes take you out and back from beside the River Thames at Gravesend into Kent countryside with checkpoints and support on the way..
The 15 mile is especially good for families as it uses the SUSTRANS route across North Kent Marshes.
Thanks to our riders we are able to provide help and progress. Thanks to our sponsors we are able to hand over the maximum possible to help.
But we also need to recognise help from all these people:
local Rotary and Lions clubs, Gravesend Cyclists Touring Club, Medway Raynet.
We also had support from Inner Wheel, Tri the Bike Shop, Lancaster Interiors, Singlewell Stationery, King & Taylor, Gravesham Borough Council, and South East 4×4 Response.
This year again we are pleased to work with Gullands (solicitors) and Nuffield Health Medway, Gravesend & Dartford Cycle Forum and the Cyclopark at Gravesend.
IMPORTANT FOR YOU. Remember that you must give your number at each check point you reach. Please do!
On behalf of Gravesend Rotary I would like to congratulate the riders and thank them for their generous donations that will flow to the charities and needy causes we support.
My thanks to our members, their spouses, friends, sponsors and support organisations that worked hard to set up the event, commencing last September, and to bring it to life last Sunday.
Our members are eager to continue to support communities in this way. I am proud of what our club achieves and encourage the support of the local business community and the public to help us continue our work. Together we can make a difference.
From our President
